How does the OTPF guide OT practice?

The OTPF guides occupational therapy practice by providing a top down approach that is holistic in how occupational therapists address clients.  It gives five aspects of the occupational therapy domain that are linked to the person(client factors, performance skills, performance patterns) or linked to activity (context & environment, activity demands). These domains allow occupational therapists to determine their client's occupations by looking at the person as a whole and not just what their chief complaint is.
